The city of Lincoln is located in the heart of the county of Lincolnshire in eastern England, and originally dates back to Roman times. Some relics from this era can still be seen today if you know where to look. However, those with an eye for beauty will revel in its picturesque modern day good looks.
Much of the stunning architecture can be found around the old medieval area, with the undisputed jewel in the crown being the 900-year old Lincoln Cathedral. Set high on a hill so that it dominates the city’s skyline, the cathedral makes the city worthy of a visit in its own right. The other must see sight is William the Conqueror’s Norman castle. The castle boasts a copy of one of the original Magna Carta signed by King John back in 1215, one of only four remaining.
Lincolns wealth first came to prominence courtesy of a thriving wool trade and later cloth, in particular Lincoln Green that Robin Hood is said to have worn. Today the place is once again enjoying a thriving industrial scene that provides plenty of local jobs. Theres also plenty to see and do in the area where entertainment is concerned. During the day there are loads of shops, cafes and bars to chill out in once you’ve seen some of the more historic sights. Then for a lively nightlife make your way down to the trendy waterfront area.
